  • Wrap or braid hair before bed
  • Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase — or wear a bonnet
  • Lightly mist with a leave-in for moisture
  • Style gently — avoid tension on the tracks

Know The Signs

Warning Signs & When To Take It Down

Your body will tell you when something isn't right. Don't ignore these signals — protecting your natural hair matters more than keeping a style in place.

Persistent itching, tenderness, or scalp pain
Some itch is normal, but ongoing discomfort can signal product build-up, tension, or an infection. Cleanse gently first — if it persists, it's time to come in.
Excessive shedding or breakage at the tracks
A few strands are normal. Clumps of hair, snapped strands, or bald spots along the braid pattern mean your install has served its time.
Musty odor or damp scalp that won't dry
Trapped moisture leads to mildew and scalp issues. Always dry your hair completely and reach out if the smell doesn't lift after a proper wash.
Loose tracks, slipping thread, or lifted braids
Book a maintenance visit right away — leaving loose tracks in place puts tension on your natural hair and shortens the life of the install.
